Wülknitz has a new bowling alley. The community of 700 people in the district of Meißen, North Saxony, gave the young office KO/OK the task to redevelop the aging sports facility elsewhere. The compact building in light grey appreciates the sporting performance of its users with architecturally high quality. The fact that the architects were keen to use linoleum despite their limited financial leeway is also shown by their well thought-out use of the sustainable material.
The environmentally friendly floor covering complements the natural larch wood formwork and white walls with strong colors. The linoleum base thus emphasizes the spatial structure: the petrol-blue floor of the changing rooms contrasts with the bright red surfaces of the bowling alley. The signal color emphasizes the dynamics in the open "club room" as well as on the four running surfaces where the balls become dangerous to the skittles. A black stripe is set on each lane as an attachment plank, flanked by matt blue-grey linoleum. A floor that celebrates the banging of the balls and the falling of the cones.
