Floors in kindergartens have a multiple life. They are mostly playgrounds, often dirt traps, sometimes a dining table or sleeping mat. In short: They must be real all-rounders. In St. Andrä-Wördern, the linoleum floor Marmoleum Fresco by Forbo fulfills all these tasks.
The building was built on a site with numerous old trees and a direct view of the Vienna Woods. Great importance was attached to the fact that the kindergarten blends in with its surroundings: a lot of untreated wood, large windows, natural shapes and a floor in a discreet "Arabian Pearl" - a natural shade of beige. The color scheme also ensures that the children do not lose sight of the essentials. Because toys and colored markings of their groups clearly stand out from their surroundings. This means that the essentials were never lost sight of during the planning phase: the needs of the children and their everyday day at the daycare center. By nature, linoleum is made for the tough everyday life in kindergarten: it is extremely hard-wearing, hygienic and durable. In Wördern, we have managed to bring this into harmony with the design and created a place where children can feel good.
