The dynamics of a building methodology, or story, involves activities and interactions that take place within a building's space. The different dynamics can be broadly themed into the following, receiving, moving, connecting, concentrating, and recharging.
Segment design is shifting towards this methodology, where the simple use of colours and materials play a significant role in distinguishing the different dynamics taking place. The user no longer needs to think about the purpose of the space, rather is immediately aware and interacting. Spaces that link while being functional in their own right.
JDH architect’s creative planning opened existing usable space to include an additional junior woodworking classroom at Christian Brothers Lewisham. The theme ‘moving’ was incorporated and represents the move towards the destination, orientation is a priority in these areas and offers guidance to help users navigate seamlessly.
JDC architects effectively incorporated the use of symbols in bright colours to contrast from the floor and rise up the wall to aid with way finding, while, making the space into a fun and inspiring place for children to learn and move subliminally.
To support the design motif, Forbo’s Surestep slip-resistant flooring was used as it met slip safety requirements whilst playing a significant role in creating a connection between spaces thanks to the wide colourful visuals offered in the Surestep original collection.
