For our 0.36m2 project we offered a selected group of creatives a Linoleum pinboard of 60x60 cm and invited them to use it in any way they wanted. This post is the contribution of Satomi Minoshima photographed in the context of her workplace.
In her work ‘Woven Linoleum’ Satomi Minoshima creates a connection between the flexibility of linoleum and traditional weaving techniques used for seats. By partly deconstructing the jute backing of the linoleum and making woven extensions she was able to create a flexible linoleum seat surface. In this hybrid design traditional furniture craft and industrial production process are literally interwoven with each other.
Satomi about herself: Satomi Minoshima’s work focuses on materials, color with a graphic design perspective. She currently runs a studio based in Eindhoven.
