Standard Tessera carpet tiles already contain over 60% recycled content and are produced using 100% renewable energy, resulting in lower embodied carbon levels.
By evolving this standard carpet tile construction, Forbo Flooring Systems has further improved the sustainability of selected carpet tile ranges, increasing the recycled content and substantially lowering the embodied carbon (A1-A3). All without offsetting and verified by range specific Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
The most sustainable ranges can be easily identified as being part of the evolve+ series. The current Tessera Topology and Create Space 1 collections achieve these enhanced sustainability criteria.
Further ranges with enhanced sustainability criteria are currently under development and will be introduced as part of the evolve+ series in 2025.
A combination of geometric elements and organic structure, together with a naturally inspired palette, Topology offers both design and flexibility, enhancing any installation.
Topology is made using Thrive® matter by Universal Fibers®, a yarn which contains 90% recycled content, giving a total recycled content figure of over 75% and less than 1.5 kg CO2 e/m2 of embodied carbon (A1-A3).
Constructed using 100% regenerated solution dyed Econyl yarn, Create Space 1 is a low level loop pile style in a warm Scandinavian influenced plain colour palette. Create Space 1 lends itself to single colourway installations, feature area designs and bespoke creative schemes, promoting a contemporary feel.
Create Space 1 has a low carbon footprint of 0.83 CO2 e/m2 and a total recycled content of over 75%.
