Maciej Kloc
Meet the team
An avid skier, gardener and sailor, Maciej Kloc, Key Account Manager for Transport and Industry for Poland, gives us an insight into his role within Forbo Flooring Systems, and talks to us about his inspirations and hobbies.
I joined Forbo in 2008 as a Key Account Manager looking after industrial flooring, which covers the pharmaceutical, chemistry, food processing and automotive sectors. In 2010 I then also took on the responsibility for the transport segments in addition to the industry segment. I meet with a lot of customers and organise meetings throughout the week to ensure that everyone we work with is happy. Our products are perfect for the transport segment with a portfolio that’s just so comprehensive and diverse. As such, it’s my job to help Forbo Transport customers understand the options and help them to find the best possible solution.
We have so many experienced team members, so it’s key that we all share our knowledge and discuss the issues. By doing this we are not only ensuring that we work well together, but also that our customers are getting the best possible service from us. So, I’d say it’s mainly about good communication between everyone and that sorts out most issues that arise.
I really enjoy gardening, and my Forbo colleagues benefit from a yearly pumpkin supply! I do my best to offer them the biggest and tastiest ones, that are 100% organic, and we use the office-collected organic waste to feed the compost. I also love skiing and the fast-paced nature of it, it’s a real rush and allows you to experience the beauty of nature and visit some wonderful places. Sailing is another passion of mine - you have a responsibility to your crew, yourself and the boat, so you’re constantly learning.
I look at people like Andrzej Bargiel, who’s a Polish skier and mountaineer. He pushes the limits of what’s possible, such as skiing from the summit of K2 to base camp! He shows what can be achieved when you bring together stamina, persistence and ambition along with modesty and courage. His mentality to keep pushing further inspires me to do the same, whether that’s with work or with my own skiing.
I also really like Simon Sinek, who is an author and inspirational speaker. I value his ability to see the wider picture and his approach of straight forward communication. He also writes a lot about leadership and how a real leader should act.
I’ve always said that the mark of a project well done is when the customer comes back to you for the second time. I see this as clear success for myself and the team. It’s feedback that our product and service met the requirements or even exceeded their expectations.
I’d have to say that the amount of different work is one of the best parts of this job, every project is unique, which keeps me on my toes creatively. We have to find the real needs of the customer, suggest and choose the appropriate matching product and then communicate around this. We also have a fantastic team, who are great to work with, they’re the people I value the most.
