The decision to weld Marmoleum is a purely aesthetic decision. A tight edge fitment along the seam will provide a secure and serviceable join for general purpose locations. For healthcare and specific location requirements, welding may be the most appropriate option.

Forbo Marmoleum products are subject to indicative chemical/stain testing in accordance with European standards. The tests provide baseline information on the effects of short term exposure to chemicals after cleaning and should be used as a comparative guide.
If specific chemicals are of particular concern we would advise that the effects are checked by the client on a sample of the proposed colour and material in conditions representative of those that will be experienced in service.

Yes. We would suggest using a water based emulsion paint, but would advise testing the application first for adhesion on a small sample of material. However, as the paint is going to be less flexible than the Bulletin Board, marks may remain visible in the paint layer.
The simple answer is no. Marmoleum has a high wood flour content so when cigarettes are stubbed out on the floor the surface will behave in a very similar way to a wooden floor. In our product literature we state that “Marks left on linoleum as a result of a stubbed out cigarette can be removed”.
A stubbed out cigarette will often leave a scorch mark on the surface of both wood and linoleum products (unlike PVC floor covering where the surface will melt leaving a permanent scar).
This mark can be removed by lightly abrading the surface of the floor with fine wire wool or a cleaning pad until the scorch mark is removed. The floor surface can then be re-finished locally if necessary with a light application of a matt or satin finish floor maintainer, which should be buffed in with a soft cloth or pad once dry.
If a cigarette is left to smoulder on the floor, then (as with wood) the scorch mark would become a burn.
This is not impossible to remove, but more of the surface of the linoleum would have to be removed so there is a likelihood that whilst the scorch mark is gone you will see some disturbance of the finish to the linoleum.
Marmoleum has a degree of flexibility to allow fitting after templating. Once acclimatised (between 18 to 27 degrees Celsius) the product has moderate flexibility to allow placement on the floor. Excessive bending or folding of the product is not possible do the construction of the product as this will cause cracking.
All resilient flooring use the standard to comply with EN-ISO 24344 (test method EN435). For linoleum, the standard is 40mm as declared in our Marmoleum technical specifications.
