Forbo Flooring Systems’ Flotex in the Fresh Cut Graph design from the HemingwayDesign X Forbo collection was chosen for the centrepiece of Time Inc’s atrium, thanks to its soft texture, durable characteristics and contemporary geometric design.
Brad Johnson, Director at BJD who designed the office, was introduced to Flotex and the HemingwayDesign collection in Forbo’s London showroom. He said: “When I saw the black and white design of Fresh Cut Graph, I thought it was a crisp, exciting and unique pattern – and I loved it! The flooring is soft, comfortable underfoot and easy to clean, making it ideal for the atrium area of the office, which is used for a variety of activities including yoga and socialising.”
Flotex offers a completely different dimension in flooring, as it combines all of the hard-wearing and durable characteristics of a resilient floor with the warmth and comfort of a textile floor covering. It is made with 70 million fibres per m², which provides a slip resistant surface in both wet and dry conditions, as well as helping to absorb sound – making it a quiet floor.
The HemingwayDesign X Forbo collection was launched in 2016 after Forbo teamed up with Hemingway Design to create a unique compilation set of flooring designs:, which are available across a choice of Forbo’s flooring materials, including Flotex, digitally printed vinyl, carpet tiles and Marmoleum, depending on the design.
Brad concluded: “At first the client was sceptical of flocked flooring, but once they saw the practical, hardwearing, comfortable yet highly attractive Flotex, their worries vanished. When I showed them the flooring they were blown away with the design and the practical nature and loved it as much as I did.”
