At Haus Schmelz in Vienna, senior citizens find a place of well-being. The care home offers older people a safe and comfortable home where they receive the support they need. The home has 200 single apartments and 23 apartments for two people. Each apartment is tailored to the needs of living in advanced old age.

The nursing home is characterized by professional care and a friendly atmosphere. Residents are cared for individually according to their needs. The location of the retirement home is ideal: it is in a very quiet area surrounded by residential buildings, sports facilities and allotments in the west of Vienna. It also has its own spacious garden where residents can linger.

During the renovation, the architectural firm AW Architekten decided to lay a total of 900 m² of Marmoleum from Forbo Flooring. Marmoleum is a popular floor covering in retirement homes as it offers a variety of benefits that meet the needs and requirements of residential care facilities:

- Cleanliness and hygiene play an important role in care homes for the elderly, where many people live together. Marmoleum is easy to clean and maintain. Even after many decades of intensive use, traces of use can be easily removed at any time.

- In care facilities, the flooring must be extremely hard-wearing: it is used daily by many carers, residents and visitors and is exposed to the stresses and strains of wheelchairs, care beds and other equipment. Marmoleum with Topshield surface protection is extremely hard-wearing and is therefore ideal for high-traffic areas.

- Marmoleum is available in various colors and patterns and can therefore be easily integrated into any design and interior. Carefully selected floor designs can create a pleasant and calming environment for occupants.

- In addition, Marmoleum is made from natural, renewable raw materials such as linseed oil, wood flour and limestone, making it an environmentally friendly choice that contributes to healthy interiors.
