The Children’s Reading Room, located on the lower level of the library, is a source of particular pride for H.J. Martin & Son. Its fun and vibrant, curvilinear pattern has drawn rave reviews. The Forbo Marmoleum flooring, through vibrant colors, evokes the image of an open meadow and is warmed by radiant heat. The flooring scheme consists of eight individual shades throughout, combined with a creative design that features an intriguing pattern to ignite any child’s imagination. Another attention-capturing feature of The Children’s Reading Room is three cheerfully decorated reading nooks nestled in the walls, which exude comfort for any young reader. The key to the success of the nooks was the blending of masterful engineering and a tactical design that featured unique sizing and flooring – flooring that ultimately was adhered to the nook walls and ceilings for a great case study in innovation.
