Nr. Vium Sports- og Kulturcenter

Nr. Vium Centralskole at Ringkøbing from the 1960s was bought by a group of citizens, and lead by architect Erik Brandt Dam Arkitekter it has been renovated and transformed into a sports and cultural center that accommodates both nursery, kindergarten, school and local social events. For the ambitious renovation of "creating the village in the school" they have just received the award Renover prisen 2017 for Denmark's best renovation.
Visual artist Malene Bach has colored the interior of the building with inspiration from the original colors. Bach's bright yellow, red, blue and green manage convincingly in the double role of memory and renewal in a building that, in close cooperation between the village and architect, celebrates the scratches rather than conceal them.
