Psykiatrin Borås

That the right environment is important for feeling good is nothing new. The new hospital in the Psychiatric Ward in Borås is designed to offer patients, relatives and staff a healing and welcoming environment.

Open and welcoming
Most people pass through Borå's psychiatric clinic SÄS main entrances. From here you can reach care wards, outpatient care and the staff canteen. One goal of the entrances is to destigmatize psychiatry for patients, staff, relatives and students - and at the same time protect patients' privacy. Part of creating the right environment is the floor.

Naturally relaxing
Natural materials such as wood, stone and linoleum floors create tranquility. Natural materials have been chosen in a few different forms. Lightly stained wood is used throughout as a road material. It harmonizes with terrazzo floors in the entrance hall and with Marmoleum floors in elevators and in nursing wards.

Keeping materials with subdued colors together in room environments allows us to create an environment that affects stress levels, so that patients, visitors and staff feel calm, says Jens Axelsson, architect, White Arkitekter.

Acoustics create peace
The building's complex room shapes mean that there will be no noisy sound environments. The Marmoleum floor provides subdued sound levels. In training rooms, Marmoleum Sport provides the right sound level.
