Qurios Holiday retreats

Qurios goes for experience, atmosphere and service at its sustainable and unique holiday parks.

The first thing that Jeroen Postma, director of the fast-growing Qurios holiday park, does when his company starts developing a new location, is to look at the history and identity of the place. We hang everything on that story. The design of the cottages, the furnishings, the materials and even the lighting. Everything as sustainable as possible. A great client for both the designers of RH Interieurs and for us.

Sustainability was also the reason that Qurios approached Forbo Flooring. Postma: 'We could have opted for a foreign supplier, but a company that is very Dutch and offers sustainable products suits our concept. Postma also appreciates 'the story' of some floors, such as the Marmoleum Cocoa floor in which cocoa husks are added, a residual product from the Zaanse cocoa industry. Considering the history and environment of the Zandvoort location, the themes of nature (the park is situated in the dunes between two water catchment areas) and Formula 1 (the Zandvoort racing circuit) were chosen. With our Marmoleum colour palette, we were able to perfectly interpret the Formula 1 Martini striping that Qurios and RH Interieurs wanted in the Grand Prix cottages. Moreover, Marmoleum is produced CO2-neutrally from natural and renewable raw materials. So it also fits into the green image of Qurios.
Marmoleum Cocoa was also used in the coffee bar. 'In the exact colours and proportions of a Latte Macchiato,' says Postma. The two-storey houses have a Flotex carpet floor on top. This is because of its acoustic properties and because Flotex is easy to clean, both wet and dry, which is very hygienic.

Qurios tries to do things differently. Postma: 'Why do you find a made-up bed in a hotel and a plastic package with sheets on the mattress in an average holiday park? With us, the holiday starts immediately instead of having to make the bed first.

The company started five years ago in a flooded market and now has parks in Callantsoog, Ameland, Bloemendaal aan Zee, Grevelingenstrand (fully Eco-park, ed.) and Zandvoort, with concrete plans for new parks in the Netherlands, France and Portugal. These are all A-locations for tourists. After five successful years of growth, Qurios has now entered into cooperation with Roompot. They have the rental of the Qurios properties, the development of new parks remains in the hands of Qurios.

Both Qurios and Forbo Flooring intend to further intensify the cooperation and support each other in other ways as well. Postma: 'We need to think along with each other, and deliver added value that goes beyond the floor. Think of service, but also of marketing. For example, we can advertise each other on social media and in our own magazines. Postma: 'So we let the guests know that they could also admire the beautiful sustainable Forbo floor at home.
