In the "Workshop Exilemuseum" in Fasanenstraße in Berlin, the interim location of the Exilmuseum Foundation, work is underway on the development of the planned museum. This is to be built as a new building, according to plans by the Danish architect Dorte Mandrup, at the Anhalter Bahnhof in Berlin. The opening is planned for 2027. The museum aims to convey the life stories of the exiles.
Until then, visitors to the "Workshop Exilemuseum" can get a first glimpse of the plans: What is it about? What is being worked on? What will the whole thing look like? And how can they get involved? A special highlight: the global migration flows were depicted on a four-by-five-metre world map - pinned to an anthracite-coloured surface made of noticeboard, which can be used like a pinboard. Bulletin Board is made from natural raw materials. The combination of linseed oil, resin, cork and colour pigments gives the product special flexibility. If you pull out a pin again, the puncture closes by itself.
The installation was a special challenge for the floor layer Mike Zimmermann: The 20-square-metre area of linoleum was of course not to be laid on the floor, as is usually the case for him, but vertically on the wall. The floor layer had to work on a scaffold - quite contrary to his job title - and stick the material to the wall in strips without seams being visible later. "I slept fitfully for a few nights, a lot can go wrong with something like this," says Zimmermann. "But in the end it went like baking pretzels." Within a day, the wall of bulletin board was completed, and the contours of the contours were then painted on by hand by an artist.
