Precise sorting and maximum operational reliability with new Transilon conveyor belts for the recycling industry

Hanover, December 2024 - The sharp rise in demand for efficient recycling is presenting the waste management industry with new challenges. In particular, special conveyor belts are required for sorting PET bottles and other waste using optical sensors such as NIR (near infrared), X-rays or magnetically induced eddy currents. Forbo Movement Systems has therefore developed two new Transilon belt types that are tailored to these special requirements: E 12/3 U0/U10 MT black and E 12/3 U0/V10H MT black.

Robust design for maximum operational safety
The three-ply construction of the new Transilon belts ensures particular robustness and reduces the risk of failures caused by damage from sharp-edged or hard materials.
Thanks to the black top layer fabric, even in the event of accidental damage, the system remains in continuous operation until the belt can be replaced. The cover layers of the new belts are made of resistant polyurethane or hard PVC. This makes the belts suitable for various applications within recycling plants. Thanks to the particularly hard polyurethane top layer, this type is also suitable for applications in which eddy current separators and magnetic sorters are used. They meet the requirements for wear, insulation and magnetic neutrality.

Recycling System

Meeting the requirements of the recycling industry
The recycling industry is facing ever-increasing sorting requirements. The belts must run stably at speeds of up to 5-6 meters per second and widths of up to 2,800 mm. Traditional rubber belts reach their limits here, as they are too heavy and less flexible. With the new Transilon types, Forbo Movement Systems offers a solution that is light in weight, flexible and yet extremely resilient - a significant advantage for reducing operating costs and increasing machine performance.

Efficiency and reliability for recycling centers
Large quantities of PET bottles and other materials are processed in recycling centers every day. A plant shutdown due to a broken belt could paralyze the entire process. Forbo's new Transilon conveyor belts are not only quickly replaceable, but also ensure that continuous operation is maintained and the efficiency of the recycling process is guaranteed.

Forbo Movement Systems is once again setting standards in conveyor belt technology and supporting the recycling industry with innovative solutions for a reliable and efficient sorting process.
