The Mayfair Library is located at the important entrance to the St. Francis Abbey Brewery with the city wall to the north of the building. The design concept for the library was to allow for open plan with meandering space transitions.
The internal enjoinment was of significant importance to the Library staff, in terms of visual, aesthetics, functionality and maintenance.
The architects dealt directly with the library staff and Forbo to ensure the internal environment achieved the library’s requirements.
Flotex and Surestep were the original products of choice from inception.
Internal chariot workshops between Forbo, Architects and Library were conducted, and flooring concept evolved to provide a bright, colourful, playful environment for the end user while ensuring durability and longevity for the library.
The outcome of the chariots concluded that the flotex flocked flooring could easily integrate with other flooring types, structures or formats and were the ideal solution for the library’s designs and colours.
