This causes electrical shocks when an individual touches metal objects, when paper and foils stick together, or static when clothes made of synthetic materials are taken off, and lightening. This discharge can damage items like electrical equipment.

Safety resistance
Electrical resistance of a floor cannot be too low as this could cause electrocution if there is contact with mains voltage of 220-230 Volts. According to the VDE0100/T160, a floor covering must have a minimal electrical resistance of: 5.104. A floor covering’s minimal electrical resistance is known as the safety resistance.
