Tell us about one of your projects
My work includes many projects. One project I am working on right now is a public school south of Gothenburg. It may not be the biggest project, but very interesting because it is fully environmentally composed. It contains high environmental demands regarding building material and energy. It is a clear trend in Sweden with low energy buildings with strict environmental classifications. 4000 m2 Marmoleum Decibel will be installed in this project.
How has your career at Forbo developed?
I started in the late 80’s in the Customer Service department. At the time I applied for a position as “future sales representative” which turned out to be a position in Customer Service. After my first few years in that department, I had the opportunity to work within Marketing, Export of Parquetry and also Sales within our depot, before ending up in my current position as Project Sales Representative in the early 2000. For me, it has been very valuable to have worked in various places in the company – the unifying factor is that all my positions have included close customer contact.
What is the best thing about your job?
To win business and the sales process. The variety of decision makers that you meet in order to make a deal is challenging and creates motivation. My main target groups are architects, building owners, flooring contractors, communities and public authorities. After many years in the market, I still learn new things every day. In project sales there are no easy answers, I always need to find the right way in the sales process.
What is your next goal?
I love my current job; actually this question was raised in my yearly performance appraisal, and my answer is that I find my current position very motivating. We have a competitive but still congenial atmosphere in our sales team and I am learning new things every day. Winning the next project is always a goal of mine.
How would you describe Forbo's culture?
I would say that our culture is characterized by skilled, professional, hard-working and ambitious people. And overall a caring and inspirational atmosphere to work within.
…And finally, do you have any hidden talents?
Being 52 years old and being competitive, I have no hidden talents. The talents that I possess I have hopefully shown already. But, even though it is not fully hidden, I have some sort of talent for sports that includes a ball. I played soccer on professional level in my youth, playing for IFK Goteborg, one of the better teams in Sweden.
