As we celebrate 100 years of Nuway, we catch up with Chris Rand, our Category Marketing Manager for Entrance Flooring Systems, as he explains what makes Nuway so special.
Nuway: handmade to perfection for over a century
With a heritage going back 100 years, our Nuway barrier matting is a unique and effective entrance flooring system. This type of commercial flooring is designed for use either externally or in the areas immediately inside as you enter a building entrance. Our Nuway primary barrier mats provide an outstanding first line of defence against soil and moisture entering a building.
There are three primary aims to Nuway mats: to remove walked-in dirt and moisture; reduce slips, trips and falls; but also, to form part of an integrated interior design scheme. That’s why, alongside the more traditional aluminium scrapers, with either a grey or rubber insert, we have introduced different design options to our Nuway range over the years. This includes our sustainable Nuway Tuftiguard Bamboo, as well as our anodised aluminium finishes in black, gold or bronze, allowing the mats to become part of the overall interior design scheme and create that all important first impression.

What sets Nuway apart from the crowd
The first being its incredible 100-year legacy and the second being the fact it is entirely handmade. Our 24-expert staff in Telford have over 300 years of combined experience, having skilfully produced millions of square meters of matting. With all this time and expertise put into crafting Nuway, our customers know that when they buy a Nuway mat, they’re buying a product that will perform and last for them.

FESSI
Another benefit offered by Forbo is our Nuway Supply and Fit Service. As part of this, we’re able to offer customers the ability to have the product installed by one of our Forbo Entrance Systems Specialist Installer (FESSI) contractors.
These contractors have received specialist training from our in-house FESSI training school based at our Telford factory. A CITB grant approved scheme, it’s the only training course available for entrance matting or entrance barrier systems and is suitable for everyone, from beginner level to those who have been doing it for years.

Extended Guarantee
The proven performance of Nuway (and Coral) entrance systems for 100 years means we have now extended our guarantee on any Forbo commercial flooring by five years, when installed on the same project.
This means that every building that installs Forbo entrance and interior flooring, you will receive a 15-year guarantee on your interior product instead of the standard 10 years.
This means you can save costs throughout the building’s lifecycle, by reducing the frequency of replacing the floors. At the same time, with fewer replacements required, it’s friendlier on the environment as there will be less demand for virgin raw materials with a reduction in the disposal of old products.
