Calming colours and patterns combined with colourful accents have helped to create a special environment for mothers and babies at Glan Clwyd Hospital.
Forbo Flooring Systems’ Sphera Element homogeneous vinyl flooring has been specified throughout the Mother and Baby Unit, because of its bright and fresh appearance, high-performance and durability. Easy to work with, the Sphera sheets were laid throughout the unit and hand cut to shape to create a beautiful butterfly designs.
The floor design shapes were of an unusual combination of lime green, brown,
and off-white from the effect volta range and were coordinated with the scenic graphics of mountains and hills on the walls. It was important to maintain continuity from the floor to the walls and the rest of the furniture. Each colour from the volta range incorporates a modern fleck, giving depth and intrigue as each colour flows from one to the other defining space and exit areas.
“The overall effect is excellent. The flooring is of exceptional quality and the bright design engages the children, encouraging them to play, whilst helping to create a happy and welcoming ward,” says Derek Thomas, Head of Estates at Glan Clwyd Hospital.
