Designs from across the Marmoleum and Project Vinyl collections from Forbo Flooring Systems have been used to great effect at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust radiotherapy facility at the Royal Oldham Hospital. Forming an integral part of the interior design, a range of vibrant colours were specified in both tile and sheet formats and designs, hand cut on site, achieving a welcoming aesthetic that
flows throughout. The durability offered by both collections also meets the high traffic demands of the hospital.
The radiotherapy facility is a newly built cancer centre spanning over 1,700m2. Forbo Flooring Systems has provided flooring across the entire development, which includes treatment, pre treatment and consulting areas, as well as a number of offices, a reception, café and information centre.
All Forbo linoleum products have a Topshield finish, a unique water-based finish that provides inherent protection of the flooring system. The main reception area will be subject to a high intensity of foot traffic, therefore it was essential the flooring system
could stand up to this. The Topshield finish not only maintains the overall performance of the flooring, it ensures its aesthetics will stay looking good for years to come.
Furthermore, Marmoleum has natural bacteriostatic properties, which have been confirmed by independent laboratories, even against the bacteria MRSA, a key factor in specification for the healthcare sector.
Philip Turner Project Manager at The Christie comments, “The main requirement of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust was to install a flooring system that was not only durable, but also visually interesting. Many of our patients have commented favourably and we are delighted with the results.”
