The Thames Club

The raw and rustic charm of Forbo Flooring Systems’ Allura Wood luxury vinyl tiles, along with its exceptional durability and ease of maintenance, has helped to complement a Scandinavian-Industrial style refurbishment of a health club coffee lounge in Staines, Surrey.

The Thames Club coffee lounge is an open space that is used by members of the health club to unwind after a workout. Therefore, when Eva Jas at D-EVA was tasked with redesigning the area, she proposed a Scandinavian-Industrial style interior to reflect a light, comfortable and modern environment for visitors to relax.

Eva Jas said: “I have always been an advocate of Scandinavian design. The characteristics veer towards simplicity, minimalism and functionality, which work well to create a calm and friendly atmosphere, which was required for The Thames Club. By using a neutral colour palette of grey, teal and beige, the subtle tones have transformed the lounge into a fresh and contemporary space, while the use of wooden materials and furniture enhances the room in a more industrial style.

“I opted for Forbo’s Allura Wood LVT in Central Oak for the floor, as it has the aesthetics of an authentic wooden floor but with the advantages of a strong and durable vinyl. The flooring looks realistic, yet doesn’t have the price tag and maintenance of its natural counterpart. I chose a lighter wooden shade with a high LRV as it makes the room seem brighter, therefore creating a bigger sense of space which integrated well with the theme.”
