Idar-Oberstein Hospital

Several years passed from the first discussions with the state through the concrete planning phase and the construction phase to the official opening. On October 12, 2023, the time had finally come: the state-of-the-art biplane angiography facility at the Idar-Oberstein Hospital was officially opened. The clinic has done pioneering work and is making a significant contribution to raising medical care to a new, progressive level.

The Idar-Oberstein Clinic is a specialized hospital and academic teaching hospital of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. The construction work in radiology was made possible by funding from the state. In particular, rooms were created for a modern biplane angiography system, which set new standards in medical care. The interdisciplinary use of the facility by (neuro)radiology, cardiology and vascular and endovascular surgery is unique in Germany. The use of the new system opens up examination and treatment options that correspond to the latest medical technology and science: Complex vascular diseases or other circulatory disorders, such as strokes and other artery occlusions, can be treated safely and minimally invasively in a tissue-friendly manner.

The architecture firm deliberately chose a friendly and bright ambience for the new angiography premises. During planning, particular attention was paid to the selection of materials. Especially in such highly sensitive hospital areas, the floor coverings must meet the highest technical and hygienic requirements. For this reason, the ESD and clean room special floor covering Colorex EC was installed in these areas. This covering not only meets the necessary hygiene properties, but also guarantees lifelong conductivity. This coating property permanently ensures that no damage occurs to the new biplane angiography system due to electrostatic charging.
