The IT company Airtame has established a new Danish headquarters at Holmen in Copenhagen: A digital, wireless developer in the centre of Danish history that reaches 250 this year. The buildings were created by architect Philip de Lange as “Kuglegården” on Holmen's Arsenal Island, where the king's navy took space from 1770 (Christian 7.)
The “Kuglegården” was renovated in 2018-19 and rebuilt into modern enterprise operation by the property developer Mogens de Linde in collaboration with the architectural firm About Space and Sanne Kyed as responsible for the interior design task.
The solution. Sanne Kyed was presented with a desire for a contemporary but timeless décor in the historic surroundings.
This includes a production and serving kitchen for serving up to 200 employees, who must also be able to serve informal meetings and 'Friday bars'; Sanne Kyed elaborated and plandesigned the kitchen furniture for manufacture at the furniture company Dan Modul in Ikast. A serving island stands as a monumental monolith in the middle of the room in a frame of 18th-century Pomeranian lighthouse!
Furniture. Sanne Kyed: - Furniture in the smokey blue version satisfies both functional requirements and modernity on the one hand and on the other a loyalty to the story. Furniture is orchestrated together with other furniture, which is made of laminate with a different structure in the surface. The combination of the two materials tells a different and more vivid story than the materials could do alone, Sanne Kyed tells.
The colors are inspired by land and sea with Furnitures smokey blue on the maritime scale.
It is one of the qualities of Furniture that it can adapt to any cultural-historical period. And here the solution is designed in respect of Holmen's special qualities from both rococo and neoclassicism.
